Disney Plus is offering a cheaper subscription option, but viewers who want it will have to pay the price of sitting through commercials.
Disney announced that they will be introducing a new, cheaper subscription option for their streaming service Disney Plus. The new option, which will be introduced in the U.S. later this year. Scheduled to be made available in the U.S., will have a low price tag and will include advertisements.
The ad-supported option of Disneyplus.com/begin will be available in the U.S. by the end of 2022. will be available in the U.S., with plans to expand internationally in 2023. Since its launch in November 2019, Disney Plus has been home to dozens of original shows and movies from Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm Studios. It made the U.S. and has also expanded its vast library of content internationally, adding shows and movies from other Disney-owned properties, such as 20th Century Studios. It was also recently announced that Disney Plus has acquired the streaming rights to previously canceled Netflix and ABC Marvel shows such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., thus adding to the already massive swath of content. Warner Media’s HBO Max offers this option for $9.99 a month, and NBCUniversal’s recent streaming service Peacock offers an ad-supported subscription for free.
This Disney Plus news also comes at an interesting time. Netflix recently announced that it would be increasing its subscription costs, much to the concern of some users. Unlike other streaming services, Netflix does not offer a cheap ad-supported option.
